Ar livre/ Outdoors

Com a chegada do Verão ameno e sem o calor sufocante de há tempos atrás, já me sabe bem levar os materiais para o terraço e trabalhar ao ar livre. Noto que trabalho mais depressa e com mais gosto, à medida que oiço os miúdos a brincarem na rua, as pessoas a conversar nos pátios e os pássaros a chilrear nas árvores. Realmente não é dificíl ser-se poético quando está bom tempo.

With the arrival of this mild Summer without breath taking heat, I love to take my stuff to the terrace and work outdoors. I notice that I work faster and with more enjoyment, as I hear kids playing in the streets, people talking in their backyards and the birds singing in trees. It's really not that difficult to be poetic with good weather.

Falando de trabalho e retomando o assunto do post anterior, queria em primeiro lugar agradecer as palavras de apoio e informá-las de que já recebi um email de desculpas e sei que as fotografias das peças copiadas foram retiradas do blogue pela sua autora. C'est fini, espero eu.

Speaking of work and going back to the subject of my previous post, I wanted to thank you for the support and inform you that I've received an apologizing email and I know that the photos of the copied pieces were removed from the blog by its author. C'es fini, I hope.

É com muita pena minha que, depois deste interregno de notícias, o primeiro post que faço não seja sobre o que me manteve ocupada durante esta ausência, mas sim sobre o que descobri hoje, através da Adriana (obrigada!). O facto é que há uma senhora bastante iluminada e hiper criativa, tal como podem ver nas imagens acima, e que nos seus rasgos de genialidade artística, diverte-se a copiar, ou melhor, a tentar copiar o trabalho de outros, inclusivé o meu. Digo tentar copiar porque creio que é evidente a falta de talento e destreza desta alegada artesã, e nem seriam precisas fotografias de melhor qualidade para se perceber.

It's with sorrow that, after my absence of news, the first post I'm making isn't about what kept me busy during the last days, but instead it is about what I've discovered today, throught Adriana (thank you!). The fact is that there's a very enlightened and hyper creative lady that, as you can see in the images above, is quite an artistic genious and has a lot of fun copying, or should I say, tries to copy other people's work, including mine. I say tries to copy, because I believe her lack of talent and skill is quite obvious, and there's no need for better quality photos to understand that.

Pela primeira vez, fotografei uma peça minha fora de casa e, acreditem, foi um passo insignificante para o mundo, mas um grande passo para mim que sou demasiado auto-consciente neste tipo de coisas. Claro que percebi mais uma vez que tendo a dramatizar, já que não me custou absolutamente nada.

Falando agora do que é mesmo importante, esta alcofa é a primeira do ano, já está reservada e deixou-me inchada de contentamento pelo resultado!

For the first time I photographed one of my pieces outside of my house and, trust me, it was an insignificant step for the world, but a huge step for me, since I'm too self-conscious in this type of things. I realized, of course, that I'm way too dramatic for my own sake: it didn't cost me a bit.

Now let's talk about what's really important, and it is the fact that this is my first hand-painted straw bag of the year, wich is already reserved and I'm super glad with the way it turned out to be!

Évora e outras demandas/ Évora and other quests

As melhores coisas acontecem quando são inesperadas e se prolongam por alguns dias: uma tarde em Évora, uma paragem na praia da Comporta, uma viagem de ferry até Setúbal, fazer de guia num dia de calor em Lisboa, visitar os Santos Populares, ir até Cascais, gozar um bailarico no largo do Carmo, revisitar a Torre de Belém, comer um gelado à beira-rio ao fim da tarde e ouvir espanhol regado com italiano e uma pitada de português à mistura.

The best things happen when they're unexpected and go on for a few days: an afternoon in Évora, stopping by Comporta's beach, a ferry trip to Setúbal, playing guide for one day in Lisboa, visiting Santos Populares, going to Cascais, enjoying some dancing in Carmo's square, revisiting Belém's Tower, eating an ice-cream by the river-side and listening to spanish and italian with a pinch of portuguese added to the mixture.

Depois de ter estado ausente nas duas últimas edições, lá volto eu a mais um domingo bem passado, e convido-vos a juntarem-se a mim! Vou pouco recheada, mas vale a intenção.

After being absent from the last two editions, I'm returning for a well-spent sunday, and I invite you all to join me! I don't have many pieces, but I'm well-intentioned.

Foi bom. Muito bom mesmo. Sem contar com o cansaço, o ambiente estava fantástico, as pessoas maravilhosamente bem dispostas e o tempo radioso! Não foi a minha primeira vez no Porto, e não será a última. Quando lá vou, sinto-me sempre como numa casa acolhedora onde a mesa posta está pronta a receber mais uma para o almoço.

It was good. Very good indeed. Without counting the fatigue, the mood was great, the people were wonderfully happy and the weather was brilliant! It wasn't my first time in Porto, and it won't be the last. Every time I go there, I feel like I'm in a cozy house that always has the table with an extra seat for lunch time.

Uma vez que estava sozinha, as fotos não foram muitas e muito menos foram as minhas andanças por Serralves, o que significa que não vi grande coisa. Mal grado a falta de visionamento dos eventos que foram acontecendo um pouco por toda a parte, sempre pude ouvir concertos e pequenas intervenções que iam passando perto da feira. E para não cair na moleza do calor, pintei pulseiras afincadamente e ganhei alguns elogios que me fizeram muito feliz. Aqui estão algumas pulseiras que foram e por lá ficaram.

Since I was alone, I couldn't take many photos, less walk by Serralves, wich means I didn't see much. In spite of my lack of viewing the events that took place everywhere, I could at least hear some concerts and little interventions that passed near the fair. So, in order to stay away from the heat laziness, I painted some bracelets quite vigorously and got a few compliments that made me quite happy. Here are some bracelets that went to Serralves and stayed there.

Já agora, pequena actualização a respeito do pedido de registo de marca: por enquanto o pedido aguarda oposição, e, se ninguém tiver nada contra, em princípio o processo estará finalizado em Julho!

By the way, here goes an update on my request for the trademark register: for now, the request awaits objection and, if no one has anything against it, the process could be finalized in July!

A contar as horas/ Counting down the hours

Pela primeira vez vou estar em Serralves, não só como visitante, mas também como participante, a mostrar as minhas peças a um público novo e, espero eu, receptivo! E sim, estou a ficar algo ansiosa...

I'm going to be in Serralves for the first time, not only as a visitor, but also as a participant, showing my pieces to a new public, that I hope to be receptive! And yes, I'm starting to be a bit anxious...
