Sair do metro para a Karl-Marx-Allee foi um choque espacial. O estilo arquitectónico mais austero, com edifícios reproduzidos por secções de ambos os lados da avenida, e a escala grandiosa e repetitiva de toda a construção, em claro contraste com o (pouco) que eu já tinha visto de Berlim, deixaram-me um pouco atarantada. Mas, como em tantos outros casos, o que primeiro se estranha, acaba depois por entranhar-se, e foi isso mesmo que aconteceu. Próxima paragem: a Cúpula do Reichstag!

Getting out of the subway onto Karl-Marx-Allee was a bit of a spatial shock. The more austere architectural style, with buildings reproduced in sections on both sides of the avenue, and the huge and repetitive scale of the whole construction, in clear contrast to what I'd alrealy seen of Berlin, left me a bit bewildered. But, as in many other things in life, what is strange at first ends up feeling quite normal, and that's exactly what happened. Next stop: the Reichstag Dome!
