Madrid revisitada | Madrid revisited

Depois de ter revisitado Londres há uns dias, não poderia deixar de revisitar Madrid. Não seria justo -mas se me estiver a tornar demasiado repetitiva avisem-me. 

Ao partir para esta viagem sem grandes expectativas, devo dizer que me surpreendi, e muito! Creio, até, que essa é a melhor maneira de viajar. Se formos até Paris à espera de ver toda a gente de boina e blusas às riscas, fumando nas esplanadas e a escrever poemas num caderninho preto, é óbvio que nos vamos desiludir. Na minha opinião, a beleza de Madrid não reside na sua arquitectura nem na sua luz. Reside, sim, na sua vivacidade. É uma cidade que respira movimento, e é impossível ficar indiferente à agitação na ruas, às pessoas, muitas, e em todo o lado.

After revisiting London some days ago, I couldn't leave Madrid behind. It wouldn't be fair - but if I'm getting to repetitive just let me know.

I went for this trip without many expectations, and I must say I was really surprised - a lot! I believe that's the best way to travel, actually. If we go to Paris expecting to see everybody wearing berets and striped blouses, smoking and writing poems in a little black book, we are obviously in for major disapointment. In my opinion, the beauty of Madrid doesn't lie in its arquitecture nor its light. It lies in its vivacity. It's a city that exudes movement, and it's impossible to stay indiferent to the excitement on the streets and the people, lots of them, everywhere.
